Scope
This policy explains how the Maou Console app, maou-console.com, and the Web Player at play.maou-console.com handle information. Maou Console is a local library and player for RPG Maker games supplied by the user.
Information the app does not collect
Maou Console does not require an account and does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, tracking, IDFA use, cloud sync, or automatic diagnostics upload. The developer does not sell or share personal information collected through the app because the app does not collect that information.
Information stored on your device
Imported games, save data, thumbnails, preferences, cache, installed RTP information, and generated diagnostics remain in app-managed storage on your device unless you choose to export, share, or remove them. Maou Console processes these files to provide the features you request.
Removing a game or clearing supported app data removes the corresponding local copies according to the action shown in the app. Device backups may be governed by your operating system and account settings.
Web Player storage and game scripts
In Chrome and Edge, the Web Player can store a permission-bearing reference to a game folder in IndexedDB under play.maou-console.com. Game resources are read directly from that folder and are not copied into browser storage. The player requests read and write access to the selected folder, and mapped games use their own save folder as the authoritative save location. The browser may ask you to grant permission again after the site or browser has been closed.
Games imported as browser copies are stored in the browser’s Origin Private File System, with library metadata and saves in IndexedDB. The Web Player does not send game bytes or saves to the developer. Clearing site data removes the library, folder references, imported copies, and browser save mirrors, but it does not delete a mapped game folder or its folder-backed saves. The browser may reclaim imported copies when persistent storage has not been granted.
When you open the save editor, the Web Player locally starts the selected game’s own MV/MZ scripts in a hidden read-only frame to decode and encode the save. Before an edit or restore replaces a save, the previous version is backed up locally. Mapped-game backups are stored under save/.maou-backups; browser-copy backups remain in the browser’s private file system. Neither saves nor backups are uploaded.
Opened games run their own scripts on a shared player origin. Per-game identifiers separate normal resource and save paths, but are not a security boundary against a malicious game chosen by the user. A malicious same-origin game could attempt to use permissions or folder handles associated with the player origin, so open only content you trust. The runtime Content Security Policy blocks connections from games to external websites and APIs by default, although the browser and Cloudflare still process ordinary requests needed to load the player shell itself.
Web Player diagnostics stay in the page and are copied or downloaded only when you request it. The Web Player does not automatically transmit diagnostics.
Compatibility preflight reads local plugin names and bounded portions of active plugin scripts to identify browser-only risks. The resulting report remains in the local library record and is included only when you manually export diagnostics; plugin source text is not included in that export.
Local network and Wi-Fi Transfer
Wi-Fi Transfer starts only when you request it. It creates a temporary local web server so that a browser on the same network can send files directly to your device. The developer does not receive the uploaded files or transfer traffic. Stop the server when the transfer is complete; it also stops when the feature or app session ends.
Your operating system may request local network permission so Maou Console can provide this feature.
Bluetooth controllers
Maou Console may use Bluetooth-related system APIs to discover and connect compatible game controllers. This access is used only for controller input. It is not used to track you, determine your location, or send Bluetooth information to the developer.
Games and content you provide
Maou Console does not include games or RTP packages. You are responsible for having the right to use the files you import. A user-supplied RPG Maker game may contain its own plugins, scripts, or network features. Maou Console does not author or represent that content, and the content author’s privacy terms may apply to its behavior.
Support and diagnostics
Maou Console creates diagnostics locally and does not upload them automatically. If you email support, the developer receives only the information you choose to submit. Your email provider processes that information under its own terms and privacy policy.
Do not send copyrighted game files, RTP packages, save data, or sensitive diagnostics unless they are necessary, you have the right to share them, and you have reviewed their contents.
Website hosting
This website does not use advertising, marketing trackers, third-party analytics scripts, fonts loaded from third-party servers, or first-party analytics cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process standard request information such as IP address, browser details, requested URL, and security events to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare handles that information under its own privacy policy.
The website reads the browser’s language list on your device to choose among English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. It stores only the selected language code in local browser storage so a manual choice is respected on later visits. This preference is not uploaded or used for analytics.
Sending an email takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
Retention and your choices
App data remains on your device until you remove it, clear the corresponding data, or uninstall the app, subject to operating-system backups. Support correspondence remains with the relevant email services according to operational, legal, and account requirements. You may request deletion of information you sent directly to support, where applicable.
Changes to this policy
When Maou Console’s data practices materially change, this page will be updated before or alongside the relevant release. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
